Start Up Support & Training
Genesis Engineering, Inc. has the skills and resources to support the
start up and commissioning of your equipment and systems. We offer training services to make sure
your plant personnel can operate and maintain the systems we design and install.
Start Up Support
As an engineering contractor, our goal is to provide a robust and reliable system for you,
our customer. Genesis Engineering provides the following start up services to ensure our designs
meet those objectives:
- Develop pre-start up inspection checklists for equipment and controls.
- Work with construction on power up to check devices and equipment.
- Operate each piece of equipment and portion of the process; work with construction to observe and
correct mechanical problems that might hamper operations.
- Confirm that all communication is functioning.
- Dynamically verify the PLC program.
- Confirm all fault annunciations on operator interfaces.
- Debug the program(s) and correct problems.
- Finalize and check the program(s) and ensure that the requirements of the design are met.
- If product is not available, the start up team may place product on the equipment in order to verify
machine function and program integrity.
- If product is available, run the equipment or system to show that it is operational and can meet the
requirements for production.
Training
Genesis provides training services for system and equipment operation for plant technicians and operators. This
effort can include the following:
- Provide an Operator Manual, which may include information on how to operate each unit throughout
the entire system. This would also cover how to operate the HMI’s, how to obtain and interpret fault
information, how to handle system upset and recovery, how to handle tracking issues, etc.
- Provide a Technical Manual, which may include information regarding technical maintenance, control
logic, communication systems between unit operations, set-up of control cards, dipswitch settings, how
information is tracked, etc. Pertinent documentation from equipment vendor literature may be included in
this training manual. The control program may also be included, though the final annotated program would be
provided with the As-Built documentation. Essentially, this manual would teach maintenance and troubleshooting.
- A combination of classroom lecture and hands-on demonstrations may be provided. Since our programmers and
start-up personnel are the same people who perform the training, the timing of this effort needs careful
planning. We welcome hands-on training during installation and start up, unless the trainees’ presence creates
a safety issue or impedes progress.
- Genesis Engineering, Inc. will work with the customer to closely follow all safety procedures.
